Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has met the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at his offices on Capitol Hill.
During the meeting the two leaders resolved to let investigators handle the issue of the NYS scandal. In favour of the reconciliation, the Kirinyaga governor told to the former prime minister that the case was now resolved. Though the case was filed back in early 2015, it hadn’t made much success.
“We hope that in this matter, facts are going to come out in the process of investigations which are being carried out by competent authorities.” said Raila Odinga.
The governor was upset to have been associated with the misappropriation of millions of shillings when he asked Waiguru to be accountable for the same.
“In that matter, as of today, stands settled in the spirit of cohesion and oneness and reconciliation in the country.’’ said Anne Waiguru
Last year in November, the NASA principal lost a bid to have Waiguru directed to provide information on her lifestyle. Raila also wanted the case to be shelved when it became obvious Waiguru wasn’t going to provide information regarding her lifestyle. But then the court held that even though Waiguru refused to declare her wealth, she had provided adequate evidence for not doing the same, and labelled the request as unnecessary and unreasonable.
Part of the issues Raila wanted Waiguru to respond to include her salary, allowances and list of properties owned and property owned.
