TikTok the popular short video platform is up gain after it had gone down for several hours at night Thursday (9th) leaving a number of users incapable of experiencing the social media platform.
There were problems on android an iPhones that left the ‘like’ function on videos completely bust with users experiencing zero likes on their videos.
The company sent out communication through its twitter account assuring its users that it was on top of the matter and will inform them in a timely fashion.
“Hi TikTok community! We’re aware that some users are experiencing app issues –working to quickly fix things, and we’ll share updates here!” TikTok said.
There have been rumours before that the app would one day close down and this latest incident only served to heighten anxiety of the same amongst its community.
Later on, it tweeted through its support account: “Issue update: We’re back in action. Thanks for your patience today!”
With a huge variety of 15 to 60-second clips for every field, the platform has become very successful within a very short span of time.
It’s quite popular with young people since they use it daily with some proclaiming that its their ‘saviour’ during this harsh times.
Currently TikTok has over a billion users worldwide, indeed it is seen as one of the most popular social media apps currently.
But, a new report has discouraged the community about fake TikTok links that are in circulation which contain hazardous malware.
In the past one year, US policy makers and government officers have had growing worries concerning the platform’s treatment of user data and its relationship with the Chinese government.
In July this year, the Indian government announced that it was looking into banning 59 Chinese apps with TikTok being among them. The reason for this was that it had concluded that the platform was a threat to national security.
