Sendy a logistics firm has recently held an event to reward more than 1,000 drivers on its platform in Nairobi. The event saw the truck and motorcycle drivers get recognition for the hardwork done through the platform over the years. It was also an opportunity for Sendy to continue it engagement with the drivers ahead of the safety and compliance deadline for bodaboda riders by the ministry of transport. Drivers who had complied got special recognition by CEO Meshack Alloys.
Earlier this month the local logistics firm lowered its prices for same day deliveries. The new product offering slashes the cost of transporting items by up to 80 percent as the company moves to make its services more affordable amid growing competition.
The strategy marks the logistics start-up’s second price reduction in under a year after it slashed it courier fees by 33 percent in August to increase uptake of its pick-up, van and truck delivery services. According to the firm, the new offering targets to lower logistics cost incurred by individuals and small businesses.
The new service dubbed Sendy standard provides same day deliveries within Nairobi at a cost of Sh250. Deliveries under the new offering will take two to four hours to make. Before, only one option was available and customers paid Sh250 as base fare and an a additional Sh30 for every extra kilometre
