Two children both aged 6 years, are in critical condition at Sigowet hospital after a 35 year old man hacked and injured them for stealing maize from his shamba in Kaplelwo village in Kiptere.
Area assistant Chief David Kipkurui who visited the scene, confirmed the crime, said the man known as Robert Chepkwony caused wounds on the two boys.
Sources say Chepkwony pulled the two boys to his house and cut them with a knife as a means of punishment.
Close neighbours say they were alerted by loud cries and hurried to meet the two boys laying on a pool of their own blood.
The neighbours then acted swiftly rushing the two boys to the Sigowet Hospital where they were admitted. The man tried to run after committing the crime but was soon waylaid by neighbours who took him to Sondu police station where he was booked awaiting court appearance.
