The role of regulators will be a key element at this year’s Financial Times (FT) Africa Payments Innovation Summit set for Nairobi in March. Patrick Njoroge, the Central Bank governor is among the key speakers. Others will include Vera Songwe, the executive secretary for United Nations Economic commission for Africa, and Ashish Thakkar, the CEO of Uganda’s Mara Group. FT said the role of regulators in creating an enabling environment for new solutions contributed to come under the spotlight.
