Bondo OCPD Anthony Wafula has died after experiencing breathing problems accompanied by fever.
He passed on at the Bondo Sub county Hospital after returning from Nairobi, a week ago.
After returning to Bondo from Nairobi, the police boss is reported to have started feeling sick up until last night when his state worsened just before midnight and was then ferried to hospital where he died at around 1 am.
Wafula had returned his children to Nairobi just after the partial lockdown in the city was lifted and only returned to Bondo a couple of days ago.
Francis Kooli, the Siaya County police commander noted that tests were underway at KEMRI lab in Kisumu to determine the cause of death.
“We are doing this to establish if he had Covid-19 given the symptoms and going bby the fact that he had recently travelled to Nairobi,” he noted.
He added, “We have lost a dependable and reliable officer who was known to work without being superversied.”
The late police boss’s body has been ferried to Bondo Sub-county hospital mortuary.
Cases of people losing their lives after experiencing breathing issues are on the rise especially during this times when we are experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic.
