Four suspects have been slashed to death as they tried to steal goats in Mithuthi-ini village, Kirinyaga County.
As reported by Citizen, the suspects were attacked while in the act of stealing livestock. The four who area notorious fell into a trap laid by the villagers as they tried to steal from one of the residents in the area.
Mwea East Deputy police commander Lucas Chebet confirmed the incident noting the four died as a result of panga injuries.
The deputy commander further stated that two other suspects managed to run away. The slain bodies of the deceased have since been ferried to the Kerugoya Hospital.
Various crimes of such nature have been increasing amid the coronavirus pandemic as people have lost their jobs-due to tough economic hardships.
For instance, five suspects including a police officer were arrested after they attempted to withdraw Ksh 28.5M from an account held at KCB Bank-Busia town branch backfired. The arrest of the three suspects followed a discrepancy noted in the transaction form presented to the branch manager that bore a different ID No. to that of the account holder, whereby detectives were larted & swiftly responded nabbing Bhavin Ramesh, Vijay Jamnaday & Desmond Lusweti.
Upon interrogations, two other suspects; Police Constable Kipkirui Tanui attached at Wilson Airport & Alex Kimeli an alleged businessman in Nairobi who had been waiting in a getaway car outside the banking hall were pursued & caught up with at Ahero.
In another incident that occurred, last week, four persons who were seen in a trending CCTV footage robbing a man in broad daylight were put behind bars.
