A Kisii woman has been charged with an attempt to murder her sister-in-law through using two assassins.
The woman who had fallen out with her sister-in-law over a piece of land had made a deal of with the hitmen for Ksh 5,000 each, with 3,000 being deposit and the balance paid after completing the job.
However, the attempt was foiled after the victim identified as Maureen Chebet notified the police.
Maureen noted she got credible reports that a plan had been allegedly hatched to have her killed by her sister-in-law following a dispute over family land. This then forced her to notify the police at Kisii Central Station.
”Walikua wanafaa wanipate kwa nyumba wanichukue na gari wanidunge visu alafu wanitupe kwa kichaka,” said Chebet.
Interestingly the suspected assassins could be heard negotiating with the wife, through the audio recording, in terms of the payment they would receive.
The two suspects and 35 year old Albert Mauti and 46 year old William Tengeya Mauti were taken arraigned in Kisii and accused with the attempted killing of Maureen Chebet. But they were later freed on a Ksh 10,000 cash each.
Norah Nyabongi the mastermind was also released on similar terms. Due to this Chebet is now fearful of her life.
